The Coming Medical Revolution.

This form of testing for food incompatibility was developed by a Naturopath called Dennis Hodges ND DI DRM DHA and all testing is conducted on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia.
His theory is that there is not such thing as a bad food. Everything we put on our skin and in our mouths has potential for good and harm. This includes medication and supplements etc.

Testing for 20 years

For some time he used muscle testing to determine allergies. The limitations seemed to be in the number of items that could be tested at one time, and the collection and maintenance of food samples. The solution was to use homeopathic preparations to test with.

In his search for homeopathic test vials he came across a fellow Naturopath who was building an Electronic Testing device to use in conjunction with homeopathic test vials. This meeting resulted in a ten-year partnership in research and development.

They carried out many trials to determine a very effective potency for the homeopathic test vials and much work was done perfecting the electronics involved to give a safe, accurate test. Parallel to the testing procedure they had to develop a treatment protocol to achieve maximum health gain for their patients. In the early days they divided the allergies into major and minor groups. The instructions were to avoid completely the major allergens and greatly reduce the minors. What they found was that once the majors were removed, the minor ones developed further and the patients symptoms would rebound after about 8 weeks. In response to this they proceeded to remove all allergens including all the ‘border line’ allergens as well. The electronic equipment was further developed to include the very minor allergens.

What we Test

The test kit comprises of 300 items, all of which are commonly used items around the home. Further to this we can test other unavoidable items, such as samples of swimming pool water, make-up, house dust,gluten free foods and toiletries. A number of items in the kit have brand names included. Our main objective is to provide the patient with a comprehensive list of safe foods and products for that individual. If the patient eats another brand of food not on the list, they could still have a bad reaction. This is because processed foods vary greatly in combinations of ingredients.

Treatment Protocol

The treatment protocol adopted is to remove all allergens and prescribe herbal and nutritional supplements to suit the patients symptoms profile. They consequently found that medications and supplements were much more effective once the reactive foods were removed from the diet. Our testing and protocol greatly supports the effectiveness of other therapies.

They changed the emphasis of their treatment protocol from finding allergens to giving the patient a list of good "safe foods" to build their diet from. If the patient only eats the foods which test safe to use their histamine levels will come down and give symptom relief.

The next stage was to expand the test kit to include soap, laundry powders, and other items which people use on a daily basis. The aim was to eliminate as many of the contact allergens as possible. This proved very effective and they were able to greatly reduce their prescribing.

The treatment protocol now, is to simply build the diet from the remaining ‘safe foods’ and only use the brand names listed for all other items. After the patient has been on this programme for 4 weeks, we re-evaluate their symptom profile to determine if other natural therapies are needed. The patient should stay on this programme for at least six months and then be retested. At that stage most of the allergies will have corrected.

We recommend avoidance of indicated foods in your report for 6 months to allow the body to repair and the allergies to correct if they are going to. Most allergies repair in 6 months, others do not, and seem to be permanent.

Most other testing systems only test for proteins in a food. Continuing the tomato example, other testing systems will test only the proteins of the tomato. Blood test will reveal the level of antibodies for tomato proteins. So you can see how much more comprehensive our testing is. You may have had other testing done, but you are still unwell. Changes in the Food Industry

Over the last twenty years there have been huge changes in food technology. The advent of genetic engineering, the addition of an ever increasing number of chemical additives, irradiation, processing, and soil depletion, have modified foods so much that they have lost a lot of their original therapeutic benefits. These changes combined with the mountain of nutritional information that is in circulation today, virtually makes it impossible to determine exactly which foods are best suited to the individual. Even though a food item has gone through these radical changes, the big question for each of us is “is this food/product ok for me to use as an individual?”

The items used in the hair test kit are taken straight from the local supermarket. The list has been put together to provide a good cross-section of all the different food groups and household products. We have chosen the most widely used brands.
